THE MONEY RACKET
BANKERS BRING TROUBLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT'S VIEWS There is not much doubt where Mrs C. Stewart the Labour member for Wellington West, stands. In the House of Representatives recently she said:— "Now we come to the greatest evil in the world to-day—the money racket. Orthodox finance is a leech upon the economic body of the nation, sucking the lifeblood of the people. Hoav long are we to suffer this liold-up by the bankers, beside whom the highwayman seems a bene factor? "No doubt honourable members have seen the great crime picture —'Crime Does Not Pay.' In view of the type of film shown periodically in our picture theatres, I feel that much more good could be done if we were shown our modern bankers a« stars in such a movie, but the title of course would have to be altered to 'Crime Does Pay,' because the bankers cannot lose. You see, Sir, they have the Government behind them—Government backing."
