COMMUNITY SINGING

NOVEL TOUCH ON WEDNESDAY At the meeting of the Whakatane Men's Patriotic meeting on Thursday evening the chairman, Mr W. Sullivan, commended the organisers of the community sings which have been held in the King Street Hall every Wednesday night over the last two months. Receipts from these 'sings' show that the proceeds have averaged. £2 2s (id per week for the eight weeks of presentation and while this may not appear to be a great sum its is the principle of the effort that counts and the functions should merit the continued, support of the public. , To the sing on Wednesday night the public is requested to take saleable articles and these will be auctioned on the stage by Mr Reeve Canning. By this it is hoped to further increase the contribution from a splendid effort.
