WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MATATA MEETING The monthly meeting of the Matata W.I. was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday, September 17. Mrs Caverhill presided over a good attendance. The social side of the afternoon was "Scotch," Mrs H. Burt giving a humorous Scotch reading, the roll call a Scotch joke, and the motto being, "Dinna wear two faces 'neath the same hat." Competitions resulted: Best Flower: Miss Burt 1, Mrs Schick 2, Mrs Smith 3. Bowl for Effect: Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Schick 2. Plain Sewing: Mrs Cummings Mrs Smith 2, Miss Burt 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mes- ■ dames Marr end Caverhill, and a ! pleasant afternoon was brought to a close.
