GESTURE BY P.W.D. OF INTEREST TO FARMERS The recent public meeting at Taneatua brought to light several subjects which should be of interest to farmers generally. Among these was an enquiry by Mr Bradshaw regarding the P.W.D. huts and quarters which lie understood were now being offered at low-rates to farmers. The County Chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, said that the position was that the -Department was offering both single men's and married men's huts, at rentals of 2s and 5s per week respectively. In the former case it Avas possible to buy the huts outright for the sum of £40, but the, married men's huts, comprising three rooms and. reasonable conveniences could not be acquired as they Avere not considered permanent homes.
