TROPHY PRESENTED

THE AHUWHENTJA CUP 7 YESTERDAY'S CEREMONY AT TE TEKO There was a large gathering of Maoris at the Kokohinau Pa, Te Teko, yesterday for the ceremony attaching to the presentation to Mrs Taitai Hall of the Ahuwhenua Cup, the trophy presented by a former Governor-General', Lord Bledisloe, for annual competition among the Maori farmers of the Dominion. A letter was read from the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, apologising for the absence of the Governor-General, Viscount Gal way. Sir Apirana Ngata, who--presented, the cup, traced the history of . the trophy and congratulated Mrs Hall! upon her success. Chiefs of many tribes addressed the gathering and Mr L. H. .Brown, of the Native Department, acting for Mrs Hall, thanked Sir Apirana Ngata for his attendance and his laudatory .remarks.
