Princess, a winner on this course over six furlongs, may be troubled by the extra distance but is assured of some support. The Cardinal,, winner last year, is said to be coming back to his best and his finishing effort over six furlongs at the last Ellerslie meeting earns him respect. The best of those on the minimum appear to "be Silver Glow, Raceline and Clinch, The Sprint. The open sprint, the Flying Handicap, sees Royevrus as top weight and his efforts in the Admiralty handicap at Ellerslie shows that he still retains his brilliant speed. Lou Rosa presents his own credentials. Brazen Bold would appeal more over a mile and appears to be safely held by those above him. Orate, according to Ellerslie form, may behave at the barrier and if the Oration gelding gets away he may take beating. Gaymiss won three consecutive races as a two y-ear old last season, displaying great.speed. Erndalc will be racing on a course he knows well and he has two open sprints to his credit at Avondale. He should be suited by the going. Royal Message, a winner at his last start, may not find it so easy this time. Grandora. appeals the more of the next pa,ir, although Valimecn is a useful sprinter when fit. Maxam is unreliable but capable. Foxmond, as doubtless punters will remember, gets away from the barrier when fresh and it will also be remembered that the Oaks winner won ab this meeting last year. She will have the benefit of a good rider in young L- C. Brown. Marshall Hall, a chestnut by Hall Mark —Legatee, revealed speed as a two year old last year and is putting in some great work on the training track. LlandafY, whose scratching for the Pakuranga meeting disappointed so many punters, will take some heading and is suited by the course, having recorded two wins there for his two starts. Brazilian will not lack support and the same applies to Queen City and Surella.
