Re-Commissioned. The Wanganui owned Beau Pere mare Taurangi, winner of the last Waikato Gup, has been re-commis-sioned after a lengthy spell. The Melbourne Cup. The Sydney trainer Frank McGrath, has stated that Beau Vite*s principal mission in Australia is the Melbourne Cup, for which he is undergoing a special preparation. A Racing Club Jubilee. The jubilee of the Wairarapa Racing Club will be celebrated this year., The club has decided to allot its profits this season to Patriotic Funds. Not on Turakina. According to advice received In Wellington, it is improbable that the English stallions Golden Eagle and Coronach were on the ill-fated Tura; kina. The horses are now due to ar-; rive in New Zealand this month. Bred to Stay. Surveyor-General, by Surveyor— Kenilwortli Maid, was making h ( is first appearance in public with the colours up at the mont fixture in the Wararoa Stakes, in which he clearly outstayed his opponents and won--easily. A Loss Registered. The Carterton Racing Club sustained a loss of £365 last season. At the annual meeting of. members the vice-president said: "The Government tax is a serious problem.. There is a probability that the Government might kill the goosfe thlat lays the golden egg by the decidedly heavy levy on clubs." The Caulfield Cup. Although the track work of Glady nev lately has not been jjarticularly impressive, the Musketoon representative/is still the ruling favourite for. the Caulfield Gup, in which he has 6.7. He has been coupled with Maikai (Melbourne Cup) to win a lot of money. Also in Jamieson's stable is High Caste, and in some quarters it is thought that the latter will be a Caulfield Cup candidate, so backers may be on tend-er-hooks right up to the day of the race. A Pair of Beau Pere's. Three weeks ago Beaulivre w,on the Doomben Cup at Brisbane, running the eleven furlongs in 2.14 2-5 sees, a record for the race. On Saturday last he 'was victorious "in the Warwick Handicap beating among others Reading and Beau Vite. From now on it Avill be increasingly interesting to learn how this gallant pair of Beau Pere's fare in races in Avhich they are both contestants and Avhat points they respectively gain in AA'ins and placings during the season.
A Hardy Constitution. Even in recent years many racing performers have by reason of their extreme hardihood, been, credited with having constitutions of .iron. At least one of the veterans now racing that may soon assume the title under this heading is the Paeroa owned Biform, who although often, on the unsound list, continues to maintain his fopm m a truly surprising manner. On Saturday week he Avas victorious in the Pakuranga Hunt Steeplechase, and although he pulled up a very tired horse, he did not make any bid whatever for a spell. On Thursday, with an interval of only four days, he lined out at New Plymouth in the EgmontWanganui Hunt Cup, carrying the top weight of 10.10. Again ridden by D. J. Bprgess he jumped sjjlendidly throughout, the two miles and a half, and Won by several lengths from Helios and Tigerterre,. Maintaining his form on Saturday he accounted for the Taranaki Cup. His wins will not be overlooked by the handicappers, and he will soon have' substantial burdens to carry. '
