TEST STARS IN ACTION
WARTIME CRICKET AT HOME Some spectacular cricket was provided in England recently by former Test players wlio are now on active service. Flight-Lieutenant R. W. V. Robins scored 96 in 65 minutes for the Ro3 r al Air Force against London Fire Services at Lord's. Policeman H. W. Taylor (South Africa) took seven for 25 against a British Empire team, securing the lu\t-trick in his second over, and capturing six for nine in the first live overs. Captain H. Sutcliffe hit 35 for his team against Major G. W. Ferrand's eleven at Sheffield. . Sergeant-Itnstructor L. Hutton, holder of the world's individual Test record score (364), made 30; Sergeant M. Leyland took three for 41; and Aircraftsman P. A;. Gibbs, made 65 for Ferrand's team. Gibb is the wicket keeper Avho, il though chosen to represent England, has never appeared in a match for the Ashes. He was chosen to meet the Australians in a Test match during the last tour of England as the result of an injury to L. E. G. 'Ames. However, the match, arranged for Manchester, was abandoned owing to rain.
