SATISFACTORY SEASON TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB "> Mr R. L. Somers presided over a record attendance at the annual} meeting of the Te Aroha Jockey Club. Speaking on the balance sheet Mr J. Pohlen said that taking everyi thing into consideration members ! had every reason to be satisfied. The extremely unfavourable wea- ! ther conditions prevailing throughj out the province just before and dining the period of the meeting had a | detrimental effect on the attendance, Given fine weather the meeting would not have fallen far short of the previous record year. The farm account revealed a record profit of £340. The chairman's suggestion that the "club should consider assisting in some way the patriotic fund met general approval. While he did not consider it possible to secure a date to promote a special patriotic meet ing the profits at the next annual meeting might be set aside for some such purpose. After full discussion Mr Pohlen moved in this direction, the resolution being carried, almost unanimously. The officers for the ensuing year are: President, Mr R. L. Somers; vice-presidents, Messrs P. Baine, F. T.'Rowe, J. A. Hepburn; committee, Messrs E. J. Aislabic., G. P. Good,fellow, J. Pohlen, G. H. Murphy, J. Kenny and A. J. McNicol: lion treasurer, Mr J. P. Somers; secretary, Mr J. P. Somers. PAPER MONEY DESTROYED As a sequel to an accident last week, in which he injured his pelvis, Paper Money has been destroyed. His owner was advised by veterinary surgeons that the life of the horse could be saved,, but Mr Faulks would not risk Paper Money suffering any pain and had him destroyed. Paper Money was foaled in 1916", and was imported to New Zealand by the late Mr J. B. Reid. After being located at Elderslie for three -years, Paper Money was sent to the Amberley district for two or three years, where he got Wild Chase and Paper Slipper, two of the best of his progeny. Then he went to the Salisbury Stud, and Alma and Boloyna were two of the best he left there, before going to the Wanaka Stud, where he remained until his death. In addition to the horses already named,, Paper Money left outstanding performers in Inflation, Silver Coat, Silver Paper, Silver Streak, Paper Note, Autopay, Money Mine and others. It is computed that during the seventeen sea sons his progeny have been racing they have won 792 races in the Dominion, the stake money aggregating £769,725.
BAY OF PLENTY RACING CLUB At the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Racing Club, at Tauranga the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Hon. C. E. Macmillan; President, Mr W. Tanner; Vice-President, Mr H. E. Olding; Auditor, Mr R. L. Thomas; Secretary, Mr J. A. Guinness; Committee, Messrs C* H. Jordan, A. E. Newsham, F. B. Hartstone, W. W. Harpham, J. H. Evans, J. R. Hill. Mr N. N. P. Green was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr Iv. .J. Rennie.« Messrs A. E. Newsham, J. A. Guinness and C. H. Jordan were elected life mem bers of the club.
