REPAIRS TO OHOPE ROAD
Sir,—lt is not often that I seek to air a grievance through th«j 'p/ess', but under the circiimstances, I feel that I have a-right, and a duty to others by doing so, upon this occasion. I refer to the abominable state of the repair work on the Ohope Road. Not merely have the working gang ripped the spoil all over the roadway, but in order to 'blind'' the mess they have poured loads of heavy, sharp metal over the full length of their operations. Sir, it is no joke to motorists to have to drive ower. this obstacle. One man last had two serious puctures, and the trip to .town cost him just £10, for two new tyres. Another I know of had a puncture just as he left the Imetal and had the job of stopping'on a dangerous incline. There will be others too who have suffered. May I suggest as a layman that th.-;' county authorities hav& a little more consideration for the users of ' their reads, and by either doing half the roadway at a time or by spreading lighter metal over a muddy jpb n make the going safer and less expensive for them. Yours etc., "OIsTE OF THE VICTIMS*"
