LET HIM STARVE
TREATMENT OF UNWANTED DOG? LOCAL OWNER'S METHODS A case which for sheer cruelty would he hard lo beat, has come to the notice of the BEACON, and concerns the actions of an owner of a fox terrier living in this district.: The family' after owning the dog and feeding it for some time decided that they were tired of it and would endeavour to get rid of it.The method adopted, was to starve the unsuspecting animal and prevent any other person in the vicinity from feeding; it. In this ingenius manner it was thought that the dog would be forced to go far afield and eventually .when someone with more pity than they themselves possessed took the wanderer in, that they would cease to be bothered with him. The callous plan is working up to a point and kindly neighbours who provide, occasional bones and scraps for the starving pup have the indignation of seeing the bona fide owners keeping the dog beyond the gates by Avords, sticks and mis-, siles. The innocent stray is now becoming a nuisance to half a dozen neighbouring homes/ but this fails to worry the owner who apparently feels that so long as he is left in peace, his heartless method has: worked sticcessfully and his responsibility for the dog terminated.
