A GENEROUS DONATION

LOCAL RESIDENT'S GESTURE RAFFLE FOR PATRIOTIC PURPOSES Mr Ernest Runncrstrum of Ohope, has donated to the local Patriotic Committee a 'Necco" an 8-valve console 'Gulbransen' radio and £10 in cash prizes for the purpose of conducting a district-wide raffle in the interests of the coming Rehabilitation Appeal. The handsome donation has been handed to the secretary, Mr G. G. Lucas, and the Department of Internal Affairs has approved the raffle. The tickets are now available and will be pushed for sale by authorised members or workers for the Patriotic Committee. The objective is to raise £500, and as the closing date is November 23, and the diraw fixed for six days later, the public is asked to respond liberally to the appeal. All remit-" tances will be credited to the district's separate accounts and their ultimate quota in connection with the actual Rehabilitation Funds. To further encourage the spirit of competition between the vendors of tickets, Messrs. Dj McL. Wallace (Whakatane branch) lias also donated £3 3s in cash or goods to the person selling the greatest number of tickets. In this respect a careful check will, be kept on all books of tickets handled and returned by the individual sellers.
