At the same time it was decided to convcv the facts to the Opotiki Union. Details of the meeting will appear on Wednesday. WHAKATANE STAR BEAT PAROA In a game which lacked any brilliance, Whakatane Star defeated Pa roa by 12 points to 8 at the Domain on Saturday. Neither team was up to strength and the standard of play suffered accordingly. There was only a poor attendance. CHALLENGE FAILS The Whakatane junior representatives failed in their challenge for the Shalfoon Shield, Opotiki winning by 12 points to nil. The game was fairly fast and open, with a superior pack assisting Opotiki to retain the Shield. - Three unconverted tries and a penalty goal made up the defenders' winning margin. RANGITAIKI WIN ! PARATA CUP MATCH In a Parata Cup match played at Te Puke on Saturday Rangitaiki won by 6-3. A junior representative game resulted in a further Rangitaiki vie- ; tory, Rangitaiki 5, Tc Puke 3, being the final score. THE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT LACK OF BILLETING OFFERS In reply to several enquirers who asked about the Tai Mitchell Challenge Shield tournament, Bay of Plenty schools teams competing, which was to have been held in Whakatane last week, the tournament was abandoned because of the lack of offers to accommodate visiting boys. The Bay of Plentj" Schools Sports Association made every endeavour to arrange the billeting of players in Whakatane but the response from residents was very disappointing, only eleven offers being received. With the problem of accommodating 120 boj r s, the Association was forced to cancel the tournament.
