SERGEANT ON FIRE IN COURT
There was an exciting interlude at Newcastle Summons Court when the poliec prosecutor (Sergt, W. G.' Wallace) suddenly burst into (lames. The sergeant had just asked a witness his name, when dense clouds ol '-smoke poured from him. "Will Your Worship excuse mc? I'm on lire," said the Sergeant, to Mr Soiling", S.M. A lighted pipe In his trousers pocket had come into contact with tAvo celluloid combs. Police and a solicitor rushed him to a jury room, where the fire was put out. Fumes from the burning celluloid filled the Court. Ambulance men treated the victim for severe burns on the right thigh, and he was taken to hospital..
