COMMUNITY SING AND BADMINTON

Sir, —In reply to "Disappointed's" letter/ appearing in Friday's Beacon, on behalf of the x Badminton Club I Should like to say : tfrat we hope *the Community Singing Committee will accept our apologies for what occurred on Wednesday night. As Wednesday evening was the only one available for the 'match, one of ■ the Community Singing Committee was asked on. Monday if the sing could be held- at the Parish Hall instead of King Street. This was what we thought was going to happen and Were very-si|r-, prised to find in Wednesday's paper it was advertised to be held at . the King Stree( s Hall. It >yas only when we rapg Otakiri at half-past eight that we found out they were not coming in although their secretary had written a letter which unfortunatelydid not arrive until Thursday morn ing. When we knew that the match was not going to be played it was suggested that we give up the hall to the community singing but as only one of the leaders was there and very few people were about we decided to continue to play Badminton. We are indeed very sorry this happened and hope that all ttte good people who were put to some inconvenience on Wednesday night wilj { accept our apologies. Yours etc., ' M. BLYTH V Hon. Sec. Badminton Club.
