THE WHAKATANE-OPOTIKI GAME
OSWALD'S SOUND DISPLAY Reporting the Whakatane-Opotiki senior football match, which took place on Saturda3 r , the Opotilci news states that the pick of the Whaltatane team was uncloubtedly Oswald, who gave a splendid display at fallback. This was in striking contrast to the Opotiki fullback, Grey, who gave that team's supporters fright every time the ball went near liim* Hughes is mentioned as being a tiger for work in most of the tight play, but was very lucky in that he got away with a great deal of offside play. Offside play and obstruction by the visitors was rather frequent. The report further adds that most of the Whakatane players show ed up and thrtt the visitors hooked well, to lose this advantage as the game progressed in the second half.
