FAREWELL EVENING DISTRICT MEMBERS OF THIRD ECHELON i . A farewell evening to Waimana and Nukuhou North • soldiers of the 3rd Echelon, A\ T as held in tlje Waimana Hall last week with a large attendance from the surrounding districts. The dance music was contributed by Mr and Mrs King, and extras by Mr A. Wardlaw and - Miss M. Wardlaw. Mr H. Wardlaw and Mr Morton were controlling officials The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs T. Wardlaw and Mr >Y< Wardlaw, and the lucky "Gay Gordons" by Miss M. Wardlaw and Mr Bertie Hughes. A box of chocolates for competition was won by Mrs C. J. Menzies. After supper Mr N. Macdonald, acting for the residents, presented each of the six soldiers with a cheque, expressing the district's best wishes and luck. Mr D. Stubbing responded for the recipients. The soldiers :. farewelled .were: R. Wickens "Ai" Company, 24th (Auckland) Battalion; Don Stubbing, Ist Training Battalion; Arthur Proffitt, Ist Training Battalion; Harry Addison, 17th Railway Operating Company; Richard Cain, 16th Railway Operating Company, and John Black Maori Battalion Reinforcements^ Those present were: Mesdames T. Wa-rdlawy R. Henderson, M. Mannion, L. Ducker, H. Bell, W. Stevenson, A. Ruff, B. Hodgson, J. Rust C. Wylde, I. Savage, M. King, B. Hughes, A. K. Bell, D. Grover, Gallagher, J. Ruff, C. Ross. Robert Wardlaw, J. Kneebone, W. Ball, J. Wardlaw. Misses R. Macdonald, J. Leslie (Taneatua), J. Macdonald, R. Hughes, M. Hughes, E. Merrie (Tan eatua), K. and E. Doran, B. Bell, N.
