EFFICIENCY TESTS

BAY OF PLENTY PUBLIC SER-< VICE ASSOCIATION CRITICISM RESENTED At the meeting ,of the Bay of Plenty section'of the Public Service Association, the Public Service Com missioner's report to Parliament on the question of efficiency tests was discussed, and it was resolved that the following' resolution be forwarded to the executive committee of the Public Service Association in Wellington:— "The Bay of Plenty scction of the Public Service Association, confirms its? support of the executive committee in its opposition to the efficiency tests in their present form, and considers that the Public Service Commissioner is not cop rectly informed when he states that the service generally does not support the Public Service Association in the attitude which is has taken up. We ask whether it is fair to the service to infer that the attitude of the 134 officers who submitted them selves for examination reflects the feelings of the more than 10,000 officers under his control? "We also feel justified in entering a vigorous protest against the manner in which the Public Service Commissioner has seen fit to describe those officers of the. Public Service who have in the past opposed the whole question of efficiency tests in their present form."
