£10,000 HITLER MISSED

At the capitulation of France. Hitler nearly got his hands on £10,000 of Australian money. The money had been sent to the French Red Cross by the Australian body in response to an urgent appeal. Fortunately the senders transmitted the sum to the British Red Cross and asked that body to forward it. The money arrived in London the day before Marshall Retain concluded the armistice and never reached France. The Australian Red Gross has now been advised that the £10,000 is on its way back to Australia.
