RAINFALL
EIGHT WET DAYS IN JULY 1 21.92 INCHES FOR THE YEAR ITO ■'/DATE- - Registered on the guage of Mr H. Muscutt, King Street, 2.87 indhes < of rain fell on the eight wet days ~ experienced in Whakatane last ' month. This fall compares with 5J9 inches for - July, 1939. The fall for the year to date is 21.92 inches, asa gainst 20.42 for tile same period last year. The great est fall for July was in 1927, >Vhen 10.17 inches were recorded. 1922 saw the driest with a fall of only .44 • A considerable difference is not-* ed between the rainfall in Whakatane and that recorded by Mr Andrew McLean, at Edgecumbe, whetre 29.88 inches have been registered . so far this year. This is accounted - for by several heavy falls in this district early in the year. The volume for July compares well, 2.38 inches having beerii^re-' corded at Edgecumbe; againsti|BEl July's total of 4.89 inches. For the corresponding period of seven months last year, 24.68 inches fell.
