AFTERNOON FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS A very successful function was hcl'% in the Waimana Domain last Saturday afternoon for Patriotic funds. There was a senior football match between Waimana and Paroa, and several basketball matches between the local girls and Opotiki. Admission to the grounds was charg ed, and a Jumble Stall held; Mrs King and her helpers, Mrs Eagle, Mrs Boynton, Mrs Wylde, Mr and Mrs Hughes* did good business. The afternoon tea stall was well patronised, Mrs T. Wardlaw and her helpers, Mrs Woolfield and Mrs H. Wardlaw, were kept busy all the afternoon. A rooster, donated by Mrs Crans- 1 wick, was won by Mr B. Wardlaw, and a dinner was won by Mr Jo,ck Wardlaw. Mr R. Morton kindly acted as gatekeeper. The takings for thirj ifternoon was close on £30 and t:lie Patriotic Committee Avish to thank one and all for the donations of vegetables, fruit, cakes, etc., and to , all who' helped in any way at all:, to make the function so successful.
