ROAD SAFETY
A.A. AND SCHOOL CHILDREN COLOUR FILMS AND EXPLANATIONS During Thursday morning and afternoon two special screenings of A.A. films were presented to the school children of the district, when, various features in connection with Road Safety were vividly illustrated by motion pictures and explained by the A.A. officials. Included in the programme was a film of the Holiday Resorts of the Auckland Province in natural colour, this bsing o-f an educational nature as it included many of the items of which the children learn in their school geography. Travel pictures of Europe, included German military roads, pictures of Berlin, Paris and Luxemburg were an interesting side-light. The Association's Child Educational Safety Service was explained to adult audicneesi in the evening by the A.A. Touring Manager, Mill. E, Champtaloup who said that all the Association's uniformed patrols were instructed in the art of delivering "Safety" talks to the youngsters and in one year the association had been responsible for giving this instruction to more than GO,OOO children. In connection with the Safety work in the schools, the Association has inaugurated a schoolboy patrol system which is designed to safeguard the younger children when crossing the road outside the school. The speaker said that this system had produced wonderful results and it was most gratifying to report that not a single child had been involved in a motor accident outside' a school at which the patrols were operating.
