THE NEW WHARF

COMPLETION IN SIGHT ALL PILES DRIVEN With the continuance of extremely favourable weather the construction of the new concrete wharf is proceeding rapidly. The first section, the larger of the two, was com pleted some weeks ago and the remainder of the piles have been driven in the second section. At the present time the wooden framework is being placcd in position for the concrete supports and all that will be necessary when these have been made will be the surfacing i The timber from the old wharf has been taken away and the massive sheerJegs, used for driving the piles, has been dismantled and re-: moved. When the final section, is completed Whakatane will be in possession of a wharf in keeping with the rapid commercial development of the town, and a wharf that wil-l be a credit to the Harbour Board I and the builder.
