BOY SCOUTS
WHAKATANE TROOP NOTES At the recent Rally given in honour of Commissioner Cooksey's visit, avc AAere very pleased to have S. M. Boswell and his Poroporo Troop associated with us. - The following passed their Tenderfoot Test recently and have been duly invested as scouts: Gerald Gart shore, ViA'ian Wright, Ralph Good* all, Billy Mickell, Doug Searle, James Keir, Brian Print, Reg Parry, John Boyle, Des Carling and T'albolj Mickell. We Avelcomc the following as ad-i ditions to our troop: Tlieo Love., Graham Torrie and Brian Fitzgerald. "A Scout's duty is to be useful and to help others." (LaAv 3). A recent innoA r ation is our Community Service through Avhich Ave hope to be of use to homes Avhich have lost their manpower. Already several homes have been helped, but avc would like to knoAV if there are others to Avhom Ave can lend a helping hand by Avay of mowing lawns, chopping wood, etc. No mono tary reward is asked for or expected Recent instruction has included -Tenderfoot tests, morse code, signalling and Fire Drill. We AA'ere pleased to have a member of the local Fire Brigade, Mr Raulston> Avitli us on a recent evening. j
