BAY UNION MEETING

TEAM SELECTED TO PLAY WAIKATO CONSIDERATION OF GATE CHARGES The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union met at Matata after the Hurinui Shield fixture between Rangitaiki and Te Puke on Saturday. The selectors submitted the team chosen to play against Waikato at Tauranga next Saturdaj', Mr A. E. Spratt being appointed manager, and it was left to the Tauranga Sub-Union to arrange the provision of line Hags, footballs, . ball boys, etc. The next Hurinui challenge will be plaj r ed at Te Telco, the challengers being Whakatane and the date fixed was August 3rd. Following discussion it was decided that Apanui and Galatea play ers would be permitted to play in the Opotiki and Rotorua subUnions respectively while the present abnormal conditions exist. Gate' Charges. The Opotiki Union raised the question of admission charges for Parata Cup matches and pointed out that they were not tiniform, citing the case of the Whakatane Union which charged only Is admission to a recent Cup match. The secretary of the Bay Union explain ed that the Whakatane Domain Board would not permit a '|l(arge of more than Is. It Avas decided to obtain a special permit from the Minister in charge lor future occasions. Representative Team.
