THE WINTER SHOW

SUBSTANTIAL PROFIT SHOWN TRIBUTE TO ASSOCIATION A stpecial meeting of the Whaka-

tane Winter Show Asscoiation took place in the Secretary's (Mr L. R. Spring's) office last Wednesday when a statement was tabled showing that the fixture realised a profit of £178 lis Bd, an achievement which, in view of the handicaps resulting from the war, was considered highly satisfactory. Mr A. J. Canning (the president) stated that the show was memorable for the wonderful spirit of co-opera-

tion which had existed between all sections, officers and stewards. He recalled the gloomy prophecies of many outsiders who claimed that the benzine restrictions would kill the fixture, and added that in his

own opinion the Show had served as a tonic to many who were depressed by the war news. Messrs Savage and Cutler congratulated the executive and expressed their agreeable surprise at the general standard.
