A WAIMANA PURCHASE ORATRIX FOR STUD FARM Messrs F. J. Savage and Sons, of the "Tuhoe" Stud Farm, Waimana, AA r ere among the purchasers ait the Wellington sale of thoroughbreds held last Aveek, buying, for 110 guineas, the . Kilbroney—Oratress bay mare Oratrix, formerly oAvned and raced by Mr R. J. Murphy (of Cuddle fame), of Wellington. Sixteen years of age, Oratrix is at in-esent in foal to Phaleron Bay. Messrs F. J. and Sons are building up a first class breeding establishment at Waimana, at prosent running a number of highly bred brood mares, including the dams of several good stake-earners, Last year Mr Savage imported the stallion Revelation (1), a well performed and highly bred horse from the world-famous Paradigm family. Details of the horses's breeding make interesting reading. His sire, Manna (22), Avas the Avinner of the Two Thousand Guineas, the Derby, and £23,534 in stakes.' Revelation's dam, White Bud, Avas the winner of fiA'e races, including the Lincolnshire Hand,icap, and Avas sired by White Eagle (5), winner of the National Breeders* Stakes., Ascot Biennial Stakes (twice), RoyaH Stakes, Atlantic Stakes, City and Suburban and £15,823, and sire of the dam of the champion stallion, Blandford. ' Revelation Avas acknowledged to be one of the best looking sons of Manna in England, Avliere he Avas foaled in 1932. He is a rich bay JR commanding appearance, high quafity and splendid proportions and if his stock bear his lines, they should aquit themselves AA^ell.
