GIFTS OF STOCK ASSIST FUND FOR WOUNDED
"Will you have your cattle commandeered for Hitler's army?" is the striking question posted to greet farmers in many saleyards throughout the country. The notice continues with an announcement of another way in which farmers can assist the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund:— 44 Any farmer who can spare a gift of stock without impairing the production capacity ol" his farm — a pig, a cow, a horse or a sheep, in fact, anything that will sell in a stock sale—is requested to send it to his nearest saleyard. There it will be sold, without commission deducted, by the Stock Auctioneers' Association, on behalf of the Sick and Wounded Funds. 1 " By this means £466 was raised at Te Puke in one day.
