POVERTY BAY POULTRY SHOV Whakatane's reputation for pou] ' try breeding was further advancei as a result of the successes gaine* by local fanciers at the Poverty Ba; Poultry Show, held in Gisborne las Friday and Saturday. Nineteen bird ' were entered and only two failei to gain pl<aces. Mrs E. Ansell, with White Leg ; horns and Dove Bilrds, gained thre firsts, two seconds, one third a®( second under the heading 'Best Bin in Show/ Mr W. R. Hanham, en tering Black Orpingtons., was award ed second; place; Mr W • Howat with Brown Leghorns, secured tw second placings; Mr J. G,rose, Blacl Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds two firsts and. three seconds and M A. Haul tain, Minorcas and Rhod Island Reds, two seconds.
