AIRCRAFT'S IMPORTANCE
— — IN THE MEDITERRANEAN Air Force officers predict that aircraft will play a relatively more Important part in the African and Mediterranean fighting than in any previous operations. This is because of the great distances and the. difficulties which landed forces have to cope with in the barren and often waterless coun try as welj as the lack of cover for ground troops which have to depend on fighter jjlanes and anti-air-craft funs rather than on concealment, Which is the soldier's best means of coping with attacks from the air. Consequently the successful bomb Ing of Italian planes on the ground must be counted a big success. The Italians have numerical superiority in the air in all theatres, so that «ur forces must rely on employing Ibetter tactics and showing greater skill.
