' MR AND MRS G. F. BEVIN CONTRIBUTE £500 The latest I'rce-of-interest ioan to be announced is that of Mr and Mrs (J. F. Bevin, oi' Te Teko, who Jiavc. offered tlie Government the use oi' £500 for tlie duration oi' the 'war and six months afterwards. This makes tlie fourth to date in this [ district and follows closely on Mrs !G. A. Brabant's offer of a similar amount. The other loans made were by Bridgers' Ltd. and by Mr Charlie Hunia, of Te Teko, whose free ofinterest loan was £1000. RADIO APPEAL WHAKATANE CONTRIBUTES £125 PROMISES ACCOUNT FOR FURTHER £25 Residents of Whakatane and district were among the thousands who subscribed in response to the radio appeal for the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund. Broadcast from IZB on Sunday night and continued on Monday night, the appeal resulted in over £81,000 being collected. Whakatane contributed the sum of £125 6s, and promises were made to the extent of a further £25 4s. The largest individual donation made from this district and one of the largest recorded during the broadcast, was that of Mr E, Runnerstrum, of Ohopc, who sent in £50.
