SUPPORT REQUIRED

ENSURING SUCCESS OF THIS

WEEK'S SHOW

APPEAL TO EXHIBITORS

Entries for Whakatane's 1940 ■Winter Show are coming to hand rapidly but more are required and an appeal is directed to all those willing to exhibit to send in their entries as soon as possible. It is interesting to note that the entries last year totalled 1591, as compared with 1332 in 1938, and the committee is endeavouring to ensure a further increase this year.

Home cookery entries last year were 125, and this was a decrease

on the previous year. The committee is confident that the ladies ol the town and country will mak<

every effort to improve upon these figures this week. More attractive

prize money is offered this year

Vegetables and Poultry,

An appeal is addressed to farmers and gardeners for entries in the vegetable and root crop section.

Last year's poultry section was a record for the Show and th;: standard, according to the judge, was particularly impressive. The local Poultry Association is keen to beat the record and invites entries from breeders and enthusiasts who take a pride in their stock. Entertainment. This year the Show Association is making special efforts to cater for the entertainment of patrons. In addition to the wide variety of side shows, -nightly-.' entertainment will be provided by a troupe of local;artists. These concerts will be conducted in a hug? marquee. Adequate;. seating' 'accommodation will be provided. , On. Friday night a special children's concert will be staged. Don't Leave it to the Other Fellow. The Association has made an effort this year to please all without exception and with this object in view has secured the services of judges from other districts. It is anticipated that the 1940 Winter Show will prove to be an outstanding success. Let everyone do their part. Only in this way can any Show be a success. Don't leave it to the other fellow —he may be leaving it to you.
