INTEREST IN HOBBY CLUB SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES «_ Groat Interest is being taken by the residents of the town and district in the lied Cross Hobby Club. Otters of assistance are coming in from all quarters and include plumbing work, Avood-work, wirework, and so on. Arrangements have been made to paint or duco any article requiring it. Offers of waste material for the manufacture of saleable novelties arc many and it is being collected by Mr A. C. King, who distributes it to the generous 'people willing to devote their spare time. The articles made will be sold by. the ladies in the Strand shop. It is emphasised that articles are made from waste material and mera bers are not involved in cost apart from spare two, Have you a hobby? If so you cari assist the ladies of the Red Gross shop in the stocking of their stall. Particulars may be obtained from Mr A. Ci. King. OHOPE AUXILIARY SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL HELD MONEY RAISED SINCE ESTABLISHMENT The Ohope Auxiliary Branch of the Whakatane Sub-Centre Red Cross Society staged a, successful social in lieu of the usual fortnightly meeting. Itenis during the afternoon were presented by Mrs Walclyke and Mrs White, to whom thanks were extended. The proceeds of the social, amounting to £1 19s 3d will be donated to the Sifck and Wounded Fund. Raffles resulted: Leather bag, Mrs Barry; Sponge cake, Mrs Timms. Another donation received, of £1 ss, was from guests at a sociaL evening held byl Mr and Mrs L, Robinson,, .Xhjs 1 , pjjso was in aid of the Sick and Wonnded Fund. The offer of £1 a month, to be built on by the Society, was received from Mr Runnerstrum. The total amount handed in by the Ohope Branch to the Whaka-l tane Sub-Centre since the Auxiliary Avas established is £52 19s 3d, made up as follows: Subscriptions £3 17s fid; donations £45 lis; social £1 19s 3d; antj Bring and Buy £1 lis 6'd,
