Grand National Hurdles. Gisborne is to he represented in the Grand National Hurdles by Dc h riend. He is a jumper of merit and a good stayer with a line tun of speed. A Piece of Paper. At Foxton when racing in the lead, Heroic Maid, looking a certain winner, shied at a piece ol paper, lost her position, and tlier finished third. A Course Record. Another Foxbridge. Trainer F. D. Jones, of Rieeaiton, has just put into work the Fox bridge—Drama filly, which was pui chased at the Trentham 1940 salt by Mr J. R. McKenzic, of chair stores fame. Re-Commissioned. That successful performer in the earlier part of the season, Centrepoise, who has been spelling foi several weeks has again resumed work, and will be prepared for the Parliamentary Handicap contest tc take place at Trentham in July. Expected. One of the good track workers at Ellerslie expected to be a success a! hurdling is Vaalso. His work is certainly of a very-, capable order, so with ordinary luck he may have his name enrolled as a winner over the battens. Native Chief. One of the Gisborne high lights. Native Chief, who won the Poverty Bay meeting on both days, is to be a starter in the Trial Stake? at Trentham viext month. Gisborne backers arc said to be getting ready for the day. High Quality Juveniles. The Hawke's Bay breeder-owner, Mr T. H. Lowry, has just put into light work the rising two j'ear old colt by Tiderace, which is a half brother to Gold Rod, a big winner in Australia. This Tiderace—April Fool filly is being handled, and will be commissioned shortly. Sale of No/ se. The highly assessed three year old colt, Norse, has been disposed of by Messrs A- El worthy and D. Gould, of Christchurch, whose colours will in due course be carried by the rising two year old colt by Winning Hit, purchased by the partnership, at the National thoroughbred sales in January last. For Events Ahead. The Gisborne horse, S1 y Fox, a solid performer when avcll, ran unsuccessfully on both days at the Waikato meeting. He will be improved by the gallops. Doubtless he will be a contestant at Trentham next month, and as he can handle heavy going well, the opposition will have something to beat. Padishah's Auslralian Weights. Padishah, the hero of the New Zealand Grand National last year has been nominated for the Victorian Steeplechase and Hurdles, ind Itis weights for these big even' are 12.5 and 11.7 respectively. A decision as to whether he will be taken over to Australia will be made this week, and in the meantime it is cxpected he will mako tlie trip.
