CHALLENGE FROM THE WAIKATO 150LB PUMPKIN TO BEAT Concern was expressed by the president of the Winter Show, Mr A. J. Canning, last Saturday, at the announcement by Mr W. G. Goodfellow that the heaviest pumpkin in the Waikato Winter Show weigh ed 1501bs. "This is a challenge to the Bay of Plenty," said Mr Canning, "and I am going to back our farmers to produce a pumpkin which will make the Waikato vegetable look like a pebble." Mr Canning has therefore decided to offer a special prize of £1 Is to the heaviest pumpkin exhibited in the local Winter Show, exceeding 1501bs. This prize will be known as the "Canning Pumpkin Special.'-'
