CALL TO SERVICE
Sir, —-I, was greatly interested in the article in Monday's issue' un&efJm the heading "Call to Service." The™ fact that Edgecumbe *can maintain a full platoon of Territorial Infantry, while Awakeri is training almost a full troop of Mounted Rifles says much for the young men of the respective districts. The value of the contribution these districts are making towards New Zealand's safety is still further enhanced when it is remembered that larg-i numbers of men have already left the "country with the Second NewZealand Expeditionary Force,? I understand that Rotorua, with a popu lation in the vicinity of 7000, has under thirty Territorials on the roll, so that Whakatane, Edgecumbe and Awakeri, in their service to the defence of New Zealand, are doing exceptionally well. Congratulations to It thein. Yours etc., ; imf- J< ; ''COUNTRY-SIDE;." ' r/Jihl--' • .... ... . . •
