STRONG WIND
♦ LAUNCHES SHELTER A wind which at times reached gale force swept Whakatane yesterday. Seas offshore became rough in the afternoon, when fairly heavy rain fell. Two launches were compelled to shelter for the night at Whale Island but were able to return this morning. No damage has been reported.
