A CALL TO PRAYER

The King's message: to the Empire, that next Sunday should be regarded as a day of Prayer to the Almighty in view of the threat to the Allied cause by the German penetration in Northern France., will find earnest endorsement in New Zealand.. Throughout the British Commonwealth of Nations a,II religions will combine in solemn pleas to the Divinity for the cause which all believe to be a righteous one, in the face of the savage; onslaught of the hordes of barbarism. Coming from the crown head of the Empire, King George VI has set a noble example to all his subjects, who in their heart of hearts still believe the immortal words of Shakespeare "More things: are wrought by Prayer than this World dreams of". Special prayer services will be conducted in Whakatane in all churches and all who can possibly attend should do so, realising to the full the gravity of the war situation, and the very serious threat to the Empire and to civilisation.
