HOW OLD ARE YOU?
O— QUESTION MUST BE ANSWERED SOCIAL SECURITY REGISTER Despite the ■modern trend of woman endeavouring to emulate mani in many of the spheres of human activits% it would appear that in one respect at least she has retained inviolate a traditional attribute of fern ininity, namely, a reluctance to disclose her age. One of the questions emboclied in the Social Security registration form calls for a statement of ''Date of Birth" and many women, in filling in the form, have taken full ad-> vantage of the fact that neither "age" nor "year of birth" are specifically referred to, and have contented themselves with giving merely the day and the month. A cynic once remarked that birthdays are one of thq few pleasant things of which women are not greedy—they do not grudge mere man the privilege of having one every 12 mont.hjs and for themselves are satisfied with less frequent intervals. However, that may be, women filling in Social Security Registration forms are required to furnisli not only the day and month but also the year of birth.
