Badges for Rejected Recruits. A question askecl by Mr W. Downie Stewart at the armual meeting of the Territorial Association of Otago, whether recruits who had been rejected because of unfitness might not be allowed to have some badge or certificate by which they could protect themselves, Avas answered by the Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones. The Minister said the Man-power Committee of the Government had given consideration to the question. About 400 men had been turned down, and it was thought that they might be able to do something for the country in its war effort. He did not see why men Avho had been rejected could not be given a badge or a certificate which thej r could produce to show that they had endeavoured to serve their country in time of war.
