I BETTER WITH AGE | The veteran cross 'country candidate En Tour appears to be performing even better with age. He followed up Ills Waverley Steeplechase victory with a win the foiloaving week at Hawera. He is now. probably at the top of his form, and may keep the opposition he may meet during the next three weeks particularly busy in the endeavour to beat him. FOR HURDLING A Te Rapa trained pair. Tosli and Sir Tommy have been relegated to the ranks of hurdlers. On the flat they have not been highly successful of late, and over jumps they mjayj have to be verj' carefully placed to have chances of success. THE HURDLER AGOG The Auckland hurdler, Agog, who earlier in the season scored meritorious wins over the battens, is now giving fine exhibitions of jumping over the big fences. He is to make his debut as a steeplechaser at the Great Northern meeting in June. STREAMLINE WINS The Southern steeplechaser, Stream line, whose credentials two seasons ago were quite good, opened his pre sent northern winter tour with a win in the Adamson Steeplechase at Hawera. He will be seen out at Te Rapa this week and if he gets through that meeting with flying colours will then go to Ellerslie to show the patrons of the Great Northern meeting his fencing capa-' bility. . .

SPRINTING BRILLIANCE The Canterbury lilly, Density, is claimed to be New Zealand's most brilliant sprinter, and it is considered that over six furlongs she would be unbeatable. In her most recent victory she carried 9.2, and it is expected her allotments in the future may be prohibitive. She is to be sent to Australia tb try conclusions over there with the speedy ones. Density is by Pink Coat from the Gistarian marc Denise, a granddaughter of the V.R.C. Oaks winner, Symmetry. SOCKETTES IMPROVING At Te Rapa the maiden steeple»ehaser, Sockettes, is showing definite improvement both in galloping and jumping, and he is expected to show up prominently in his close at hand engagements. A HIGH RANKER By his win in the Egmont Steeplechase at Hawera Clarion Call proved that he still ranks with the very best of the Dominion's steeplechasers. He was turned out in splendid condition by L. G. Morris, and ali though he has his full share of weight in the Dominion's principle jumping events to be run during the next feAv weeks, his supporters will maintain the opinion in respect to the Hunting Song representative being a front ranker even in the best of company. RACE BOY DESTROYED Race Boj r , by Raceful—Cochineal, (All Red—Peronilla) who competed unsuccessfully at the recent Ohinemuri meeting, broke a leg during his training work at Awapuni last week, and had to be destroyed. He was quite a promising hurdler and as he was well up to weight, the loss to his owner is a serious one. CHANGE OF LOCATION Trainer H. Eva, who for some time has been located at Avondale, is now at PZllerslie. The latest a,d-< dition to his team is a two year old filly by Vails from Telepathy. Phil Vaals, who had an enforced holiday in February and March is again in commission, and may race at the Waikato meeting. It will be remembered that this filly won on the second day of the Thames meeting in January last, but may not .vet be quite as forward in racing condition as she was then.
