PUBLIC NOTICE VVHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL Notice is hereby given that the Whakatane Borough Council pursuant to its powers under the provisions of Sections 77, 79, 80 to 90. 96, 99 and 100 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, the Rating Act 1925, Section 51 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act 192G, the Local Bodies Loans Act 1926 and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, intend at a meeting of '/lie Council to be held on Tuesday, May 28, 1940, at the Council Chambers. Commerce Street, Whakatane, to make and levy the following rat'es md fees viz:—A consolidated rate 3f l/4d in the £ in lieu of the folowing—General rate of 6d in the £, Hospital and Charitable Aid rate of 1.75 d in the £, Street lighting rate of .5d in the £, special rates to provide interest and sinking fund etc. :>n loans raised (a) Conversion loan if £72,970, 4.75 d in £, (b) Conversion loan of £20,520, 3d in £. Each of the foregoing rates to be for the period from April 1, 1940 to March 31„ 1941 and to be levied on all the rateable property in the Borough af Whakatane as appearing in the Valuation Roll at present in force, upon the basis of the unimproved ralue. Also for the same period t*> levy a uniform sanitation fee of £1 [9s per pan in respect of the removal of nightsoil. Also the Council intends at the meeting abovementioned, pursuant to the. provisions of Sections 84 and 85 of the iarbour's Act 1923, to make and evy for and on behalf of the Whacatai\e Harbour Board a special •ate of %d in the £ to provide interest and sinking fund of the Whasatane Harbour Board Conversion „oan of £65,300; such rate to be far the period from October 1, 1939 to September .30, 1940, and to be levied )n all the rateable property in the iorough of "Whakatane, which area 'orms a part of the Whakatane Har)our Board's district, as appearing n the Valuation Roll of the Bor>ugh of Whakatane, at present in orce, on the basis of the unimprov:d value. Further, pursuant, to the provisions of, Section 76 of the Ratng Act 1925, that a penalty of 10 )er cent be added to all rates renaming unpaid after six months md fourteen days from the date of lemand.
