WALLACE BEERY Wallace Beery was horn in Kansas City, one of three sons of Patrolman Noah Beery. His first job was an engine wiper at a railroad roundhouse, his first experience in show busi-j ness as an elephant tender with a circus. He followed in his brother Xoah's footsteps by obtaining a job in the chorus of a New York musical comedy, and soon rose to stardom. After touring the country with various stock companies, he made his film debut with the Ess>anay company as a Swedish servant girl in a two-reel comedy. He has worked as electrician, cameraman, director and studio manager, as well as actor. Beery is currently celebrat ing his thirtieth year in show business . •
