""As ar as bands go, I consider it has [uite a good record from the finanial point of view. The Band-room vas erected and built by the bandsnen themselves, by voluntary lab!ur. The instruments were bought nainly from our own earnings, and o-day most of the men own their >wn instruments. The uniforms were >aid for from funds raised by a pecla! commitlec. and the last £15 pent in this direction came from he band's funds. "In the old days, I remember vhen the band used to split into wo sections, and play carols on Christmas EVe. It was nothing to ee each section come back with £40. Those Avere the old days, but funds lo not come so easily to-day. All >rganisations are finding it hard to ceep going. It is just a sign of the imes. "We are actually in need ;et of instruments but I t would cost £1400. We 4re S 'faee<J ■vith many dilficulties if we aded out, it would be very hard or a new band to start again and [ feel we should keep the flag fly-* :ng."
