RECRUITS FAREWELLED
DANCE AND SOCIAL FUNCTION AT PAPER MILLS \ As a gesture to eleven members >f the Paper Mills' staff, who have inlistcd ancl are to enter camp short y, a dance was held at the Mills' ccreation room on Saturday night, was a large attendance of em>loyees and friends. Messrs R. Oldham and J. Fraser Lcted as M.'sC. and th'e latter acted or the comrades of the recruits in naking a speech. Mr Fraser said, hat the men who were going AA r ould >e always remembered as comrades nd good, fellows and they had the est wishes of those remaining. Mr Fraser also expressed thanks o the Arcadeans, for the music so generously supplied and Mr Wiliams for the free use of a bus. Social Evening. A well-attended social evening k r as held on Tuesday. Items >resented and speeches matje by Mfer 2. C. Brown, secretary of the comtany, and Mr Major, of he Paper Mills Employees' "Union. Ay J. Fraser was chairman. Mr Brown said that the company vas proud that the men had enlist;d and were to serve their country.le wished them the best of luck: tnd a speedy return. ' Mr Major expressed similar sentinents. Those who are to go into camp ire: K. McKenzie, R. Waterman, .T.Doust, C. Anderson, J. Goddard, F. iutchins, B. Goodall, G. S. Haydon f. Hogan, G. Howat. Another who vas due to enter camp was Ivan 2uigley, who was injured early on ruesday morning and who is now n hospital.
