RANGITAIKI ASSOCIATION AVERAGES KEEPA AND G. MOORE LEAEj Compared with the 1938-39 season, which was one of the best expern encecl for a number of years, 193940 was not ns successful as was anticipated. An unusual number of wet Saturdays and the general uncertainty of the times, tended to dampen enthusiasm, particularly in the latter part of the season, and as a result the number of matches played was about half those played the previous year. B. Keepa, P. and T., with an average of 35.1 headed the batting, and also returned the excellent bowl ing figures of 45 wicketjs at a cost of 7,8 runs per wicket. G. Moore* of Paroa, topped the boAvling with an average of 6.8 runs per wicket (40 wickets) and claimed a batting average of 22.6 runs per innings. L. R. Spring with 32.2 runs per Avicket and 64 wickets at a cost of 7.3 runs per wicket again proved the outstanding all-rounder. Batting averages under 10 and bowling figures of less than 15 wickets are not detailed.
