BOOKS WANTED

FOR LOCAL FIREMEN APPEAL TO FRIENDS The Whakatane Fire Board has made a practice of maintaining a small library at the fire station the benefit of those men avlio remain on duty, and live on the premises. The books have been fully appreciated but the time has come when there is urgent need for their replacement and an appeal is made to all those who appreciate the services of the brigade, to donate used books, magazines or novels for this, purpose. The recent book drive on behalf of the troops overseas, met with ni splendid response, but it is hoped that there will still be a few persons who will make an effort to supply books and other forms of reading matter for the firemen who stand by voluntarily in the interests of the safety and protection of the townspeople.
