FROM EGYPT
LETTER FROM LOCAL, MAN 'DIXIE' DEAN'S IMPRESSIONS Writing from Egypt to Mr Alf Ferguson, of Poroporo, Mr 'Dixie' Dean, wlio was well known to the town's younger set, has some inter-* esting observations to make regarding camp life and the conditions there. "We're having a pretty goot< time," lie says, "though the sane} is a bit annoying at times. Our motor cj'cles arrh'ed last week and we had quite a bit of fun with them. We had a marvellous trip over and had five or six hours leave at each port. By getting hold of a taxi Ave were able to see quite a bit of the places we visited. Five of us shared expenses and so it came off prettj r cheap. I saw Oily Martin at Colombo but. have not seen him since. Jack Collins is camped about half a mile from here and he and I went t| the pictures in Cairo last week. I think I've seen enough of Cairo for a time. ''We have moved into permanent wooden buildings now, though the tents Ave AA r ere living in were really good. The food is 'darn' good too though for the first feAV days it took some time to get organised. AIH the men are in good health and enjoying life."
