1.45: PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP

Of £350; 1% miles Jack Tar 9.4; Clipper 8.7; Naniarn B.G; Pocket Venus, Bronze Moth 8.4; Kena 7.13; Valmint 7.12; Foxscn 7.9; Knight of Australia 7.4; High Sea 7.2; Silver Cloud, Saceone, Day Wind, Sunny Downs 7.0.

Jack Tar is in form and the same can be said of Clipper and Namara. Pocket Venus raced well at the Ellerslie Autumn meeting and if she reproduces that form should be difficult to beat. Bronze Moth will have the advantage of racing on his home track and as he has won OA T er a mile, will be accorded solid support. Kena relishes easy going and will be well suited if the track is at all easy. The same applies to Valmint and this horse is always at his best in the winter months. This fact is evidenced by his three successive seconds in the Cornwall Han dicap. If turned out in condition the Vaals gelding will be hard to head. Foxsen is very likely and is not too heavily -weighted. With the benefit of a good rider this filly will go well. For the veteran Knight this race may be only a work-out for the Great Northern Hurdles and he does not appeal in this class. High Sea appears to be unable to reproduce track form in his races. This son of Heroic is hard to follow but he went a great race for third in the President's at Easter. A similar effort would see him knocking at the door. Silver Cloud has an opportunity to prove herself. Saccone has disappointed but may coma right at any time and is worth Matching. Day Wind seems to be a back number and does not merit consideration. Sunny Downs should be safely held. Support may com3 for Valmint 1 Foxsen Bronze Moth
