RED CROSS
OHOPE AUXILIARY FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the Ohope Auxiliary Branch of the Wliakatane Red Cross Society was held on Tuesday, when in charge of the sewing, knitting and produce gave very satisfactory reports on the work performed. The starting of first-aid and home-nurs-ing classes was discussed and if possible these will be commenced at Ohope. Mrs Kilvington took the chair in the absence of Mrs Bullae from whom an apology was received. An entertainment committee was formed, comprising Mcsdames Rayner. E. Robinson, Lipscombe and Morris. The proceeds from the Bring-and-Buv stall totalled £1 lis 6d, which was exceedingly gratifying. RED CROSS SHOP STEADY PATRONAGE ACCORDED The shop in the Wliakatane Hotel Buildings controlled by the Wliakatane Branch of the Red Cross Society continues to do good business. Now on display in the window are various articles such as socks and balaclavas which have been knitted for the troops. A ready sale is made of anything contributed but the stocks are not always plentiful and it would be appreciated if more gifts of produce, cakes, embroidery or any saleable articles were made. Cakes are particularly welcome. The committee responsible for the control of the shop is doing splendid work and the lady members would be rewarded for their efforts if increased public patronage was accorded.
